Helen Gabel, C.N.M., A.R.N.P. is a certified nurse midwife who works with the midwifery service at NW Hospital. She attends prenatal visits at The Midwives Clinic on a per diem basis.

Gabel received an undergraduate liberal arts degree from New College, Sarasota, Florida in 1972. She earned her Bachelor's in nursing from Florida State University in 1976 and her Master's in nursing from Emory University in 1980.

Gabel's clinical interests include  normal pregnancy and birth. She co-manages moderate-risk pregnancies with obstetric physicians.

She believes  midwifery emphasizes that the birth experience "belongs" to the mother, not to the helping professionals. Midwives partner with mothers and their families for safe and satisfying birth experiences. Every family is different, and it is an amazing privilege to witness the changes and growth that happen during the childbearing year.
