Robotic Surgical Services: General Surgery
Northwest Hospital surgeons perform many general surgery procedures using the da Vinci system. The da Vinci system offers a less-invasive approach to traditional surgery and allows the surgeon greater precision and an increased range of motion. The patient’s pain and risk are reduced, and their likelihood of a quick recovery and superior clinical results are increased.
Procedures performed using the da Vinci robot at Northwest Hospital include:
- Cholecystectomy – Gallbladder removal (single-incision)
- Colon resection – Removal of all or part of the large intestine
- Ventral hernia repair – Treatment of hernia in the abdomen
- Hiatal hernia repair – Treatment of a condition in which part of the stomach moves above the diaphragm
- Acid reflux surgery – Treatment to prevent stomach acid from leaking into the esophagus
- Lysis of adhesions – Removal of internal scar tissue
- Splenectomy – Removal of the spleen
- Adrenalectomy – Removal of one or both adrenal glands
- Gastrectomy – Removal of all or part of the stomach
- Esophagectomy – Removal of all or part of the esophagus
