Bio

Dr. Ghassemieh is a pulmonary and critical care physician practicing at Northwest Hospital and Medical Center. He holds a faculty appointment as a Clinical Instructor in the University of Washington School of Medicine. He enjoys taking care of patients with all forms of lung disease. In addition to his work at Northwest Hospital and Medical Center, he also cares for patients with tuberculosis at the Seattle and King County Public Health TB Clinic at Harborview Medical Center.

Dr. Ghassemieh earned his bachelor’s degree and his M.D. from the University of Washington. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Chicago Medical Center. He subsequently returned to Seattle to complete his fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Washington.

Patient Care Philosophy

I believe that patients should be offered the opportunity to be active participants in their health care decisions. I strive to explain my thoughts and recommendations in plain language in order to help patients make choices that will improve their health and quality of life.

Clinical Interests

All forms of lung disease, including: asthma; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); chest infections, bronchiectasis; lung cancer; interstitial lung disease; sarcoidosis; pulmonary hypertension; pleural disorders.

Research Interests

Tuberculosis epidemiology; tuberculosis treatment
