Though he completed all of his schooling in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Gougoutas is a native of Princeton, New Jersey, where his family lived for 30 years before moving to the Pacific Northwest in 2012. He completed his undergraduate studies in music composition and theory at the University of Pennsylvania, where he remained for both medical school and an integrated General Surgery / Plastic Surgery residency. After 16 years in Philadelphia he relocated to Seattle, where he completed a 1-year fellowship in Microvascular Surgery at the University of Washington before joining the faculty in the Division of Plastic Surgery.
