Board Of Trustees

Scott Hardman, Chairman:
Scott Hardman has extensive experience in the sale of companies, as well as finance and management. A Managing Director of Alexander Hutton for the past twenty years, Mr. Hardman focuses on manufacturing and healthcare transactions. In the manufacturing sector, he has particular experience in aerospace. Previously, Mr. Hardman established the international division of a financial consulting firm, where he consulted with banks and businesses across the United States and in 28 countries on questions pertaining to finance, valuation and management. From 1989 to 1994, he served as Chairman and CEO of a Seattle based diversified manufacturing company where he conducted acquisitions, divestitures and private placements.
In addition to his responsibilities at Alexander Hutton, Mr. Hardman is the former Chairman and President of M&A International, the worldwide alliance of M&A firms of which Alexander Hutton is the Seattle office. He serves on numerous corporate, charitable and institutional boards of directors including Chairing UW Medicine’s Northwest Hospital. Active in public affairs, he was a 1994 candidate for the United States Senate and previously served as the Chair of the State of Washington’s Economic Development Finance Authority.
Mr. Hardman holds several graduate degrees, including an MBA from the University of Washington. He is a third generation Seattle resident and is married with three children and three grandchildren.

Jim C. Snyder, Vice Chairman
Jim Snyder retired from Kennedy Associates Real Estate Counsel, LP as of December 31, 2007. He was a founding principal and had served as its President and Chief Executive Officer continuously since 1978. Mr. Snyder was responsible for managing the strategic direction of the company and, as Chief Executive, was ultimately responsible for the implementation of investment strategy for all funds and separate accounts.
Mr. Snyder holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Texas School of Law and a BS degree from the University of Colorado; he is a member of the Texas Bar Association. In addition, he is a co-founder and charter member of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA), a past member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), a past member of the Real Estate Roundtable, and a past member, as well as past Chairman, of the National Associate of Real Estate Investment Managers (NAREIM).
He was the co-founder of both the NewTower Trust Company and the Multi-Employer Property Trust (MEPT), a $5 billion commingled open-ended real estate fund. NewTower Trust Company, a Maryland chartered trust company, serves as trustee for MEPT.
Mr. Snyder has served on corporate and charitable boards, including NewTower Trust Company Board of Directors; Kennedy Associates Real Estate Counsel, LP; The Highlands, Inc.; Seattle Children’s Home Board of Trustees; UW Medicine/Northwest Hospital Board of Trustees; Runstad Center for Real Estate Studies Advisory Board, University of Washington; OceanGate Inc. and Swiftsure Capital, LLC.

Peter Evans:
Mr. Evans has served as a Trustee since 1999. He served as Chairman of the Board from 2010 to 2014. He currently serves as chair of the Finance and Governance Committees, as well as sitting on the Patient Safety and Quality, Compensation, Foundation, Investment, and Audit Committees. Mr. Evans retired as Vice President and Partner at Seattle-Northwest Securities Corporation. His career included positions at Boeing Aerospace, Marshall & Meyer Securities and Smith Barney. Mr. Evans earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Masters degree in Public Health, both from the University of Washington. Mr. Evans also serves as a Trustee at UW Medicine/Valley Medical Center.

William J. Rex:
Mr. Rex chairs the Governance Committee of the HRN / Northwest Hospital & Medical Center board, as well as sitting on the Building, Compensation, Finance, Investment and Strategic Planning committees. He retired as Managing Director of Prudential Securities, Inc. Prior to Prudential Securities, Mr. Rex was President of Picnic Point Development Company, Ltd. Concurrently, he was Executive Vice President at Shearson Lehman Brothers and President of Foster & Marshall Realty and Mortgage Company, where he had previously held the title of Senior Executive Vice President. Prior to Foster & Marshall, Mr. Rex held Vice President positions at John Nuveen & Company and at Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner & Smith, consecutively. Mr. Rex has a long history of leadership, membership and participation in dozens of civic, business and charitable boards and organizations. In addition to the Northwest Hospital board and the UW Medicine board, he currently sits on the board of The Commerce Bank of Washington and the Museum of Flight. Mr. Rex graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Grinnell College in Iowa.

Shaiza Damji
Ms. Damji sits on the Foundation and Quality Standards & Patient Safety committees of the HRN/ Northwest Hospital & Medical Center board. Ms. Damji is and owner and Managing Director for the 360° Hotel Group and has held senior positions for the group since 1999. As managing director of the group of six hotels, she oversees financing, strategic direction and future development of the company. Before joining the 360° Hotel Group, Ms. Damji worked for four years as an associate attorney with New York-based international law firm Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton. Damji has been actively involved with the Washington Lodging Association, having served in the past on the Board, Executive Committee and as the Chairperson. She is currently a board member for the Future of Flight Foundation which both operates the Boeing Tour facility and serves as a STEM/STEAM educational resource facility for the north Seattle and Snohomish County community. She attended Yale University and graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in history. She then received her law degree cum laude from Harvard Law School. She is a member of the Yale Alumni Schools Committee. She lives in Kirkland with her husband, Alif, and their two young sons.

Terry Lengfelder
Terry Lengfelder is a long-time member of the board of Northwest Hospital and Medical Center, both before and after it became a part of U. W. Medicine. He is a past chairman, and currently heads several committees (including chairman of the Audit and Foundation Committees as well as a member of the Building, Compensation, Finance and Strategic Planning Committees)”. He has also served as a Community Member of the Finance and Audit Committee of U.W. Medicine. Mr. Lengfelder has served as a consultant in business management, finance and accounting and as an arbitrator. Prior to his years of consultancy, he spent almost four decades at Arthur Andersen & Co., where he served as managing partner of the Seattle and Washington D. C. offices and in Chicago as partner in charge of the firm’s central region. He served two terms on the Board of Partners of Andersen Worldwide and as chairman in 1993 and 94.

Mr. Lengfelder is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and has served as a director on several corporate boards, as well as a director of a number of not-for-profit organizations including the Chamber of Commerce Boards in Seattle, Washington, D. C. and Chicago, where he served two years as chairman.

Tom Tunure
A seasoned Insurance Executive, Risk Management Expert and Entrepreneur, Tom has been a leader in the insurance industry for more than 25 years. Having owned a business himself for nearly 10 years, Tom’s success has come from his ability to partner with organizations, business owners and individuals to build trust and help guide them through the process of protecting and growing their own greatest investments. Tom understands what it takes for a business to be successful, and his process of navigating and assessing critical elements of business operations around financial decisions and risk have made him a recognized leader in his field. Tom is currently the Senior Vice President for Servco Pacific Insurance is Seattle, Washington.

Tom is passionate about giving back to the community in which he serves, and has been involved with many organizations locally. A few of the organizations where he has held leadership roles include the UW Tyee Board of Advisors, where he has also served as President and Chairman of the Board; the Assumption/St. Bridget School as both a Board Member and President; Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission Committee for Business Development; and as a Big Brothers & Big Sisters Board Member.

Tom is a graduate of the University of Washington with a degree in economics and played football for the Huskies during the era of Don James. Upon graduation, he was drafted by the NFL and played football professionally for the Detroit Lions for 6 years.

Jim Anderson

Mr. Anderson has served on the Health Resources Northwest/Northwest Hospital board since 2000. He was Chairman when Northwest Hospital affiliated with University of Washington Medicine and became University of Washington Medicine/Northwest. Since 1984 He has served on many healthcare boards that are involved in many facets of the healthcare continuum. Other hospitals, healthcare insurance companies, health plans and the Washington State Hospital Association.. Mr. Anderson was president and CEO of Adaptis Inc., a healthcare business process outsourcing company. Prior to Adaptis, Mr. Anderson was President, CEO and Chairman of Pacific First Financial Corporation and Pacific First Bank, and before that, Group Senior Vice President of California Federal Savings and Loan. Prior to Cal Fed, Mr. Anderson was a management consultant for Computer Sciences, Corporation, where he set up the company’s outsourcing division. Mr. Anderson has also served as Chairman of the Board of Everlast Worldwide, Inc., chair of the strategic planning committee for the Board of Directors for Northwest Healthcare Insurance Services and Washington Casualty Company, and Chairman of the Board of Overseers of Whitman College. Mr. Anderson has also served on the boards of numerous other business, civic, art and educational organizations, including: Tela Sourcing, Inc., Multicare Health System, Tacoma/Pierce County Economic Development Council, the Corporate Council for the Arts and Reality-Based Learning. Mr. Anderson received a Bachelor of Arts from Whitman College, and has continued to pursue post-graduate study in business and management at various universities throughout the United States.

Marian Svinth
Ms. Svinth chairs the Patient Safety & Quality Committee of the Northwest Hospital & Medical Center Board where she has served since 2000.

She is a retired organizational consultant with a background in human resources, executive coaching, and leadership development. In her prior career she was a corporate human resources manager and internal organizational consultant at Simpson Investment Co. for 19 years. In addition she was actively involved with issues of job training and education reform at the local and state levels, and served as a founding member of the Washington State Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board.

She is a past President of the Cancer Lifeline Board of Directors and a current member of the Advisory Board; a coach and advocate for people living with cancer, and a past Board member of the White River Recreation Association.

Marian has a BS degree from Washington State Univ., MS from Indiana Univ., and PhD. from University of Oregon.
